Marco Giltrap

Looking to build on momentum and experience gained winning Championships at an international level in 2023, Marco Giltrap has been tipped as one to watch for 2024 and beyond.

ABOUT

Marco Giltrap followed up an impressive five years of competition in karts with a move to the popular Toyota 86 Championship in its mini endurance format.

It was clear the 17-year-old was immediately at home behind the wheel of Toyota’s TR86 race car as the 2021 season got underway. He improved on his performance throughout the season and quickly established himself as a regular challenger near the front of the field. His sixth-place result was enough to net him ‘Rookie of the Year’ status.

Giltrap made a huge step-up in 2023 and became an international double-champion, winning both the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Championship and Porsche Sprint Challenge Australia Championship.

Teaming up with seasoned driver Chris van der Drift, the pair drove the Lamborghini Auckland Super Trofeo car to a dominant victory in the Asian championship, winning majority of the races on the calendar.

Alongside the Super Trofeo Asia championship, Giltrap was also contesting the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge in Australia. This was another series that the young-Kiwi would excel at, winning the championship with Earl Bamber Motorsport and Team Porsche New Zealand.

This year, Giltrap has made taken the step up to Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, one of the most competitive single-make series in the world. He has been slowly gaining confidence and pace over the course of the year, taking his best result of P4 for the round at the Sydney SuperNight in July.
