Škoda Elroq: Taking sustainable interior materials to the next level

Aug 28, 2024

Skoda’s first ever fully electric compact SUV, the Elroq, is looking to be a case-study in sustainable interiors from the Czech manufacturer who have are committed to reducing the CO2 footprint of their vehicles.

With names that sound right out of a sci-fi novel, Recytitan and Technofil are new sustainable fabrics that will be used to trim the interior of the Elroq.

Recytitan is comprised of recycled plastic bottles and, in a Skoda first, recycled clothing. On the other hand, Technofil is composed of recycled nylon waste, including fishing nets, fabric scraps and carpets that would otherwise just go to a landfill.

These fabrics will be found inside the car in different amounts depending on which spec you choose and have proven to be durable and comfortable in the intense testing they’ve have to undergo.

The Elroq won’t just be a next step in Skoda’s sustainability goals, but also a showcase of the new direction for their Modern Solid design language. The focus of the designers has been a spacious interior defined by clean, simple lines. It will come in four specs, or Design Selections, named Studio, Loft, Lodge and Suite.
