Feb 1, 2024

It’s the first time NASCAR has been available live and free in Aotearoa.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will be available on ThreeNow, with coverage of the Clash at the L.A. Coliseum, kicking off on Monday, 5 February at 1.00pm, live and free, only on ThreeNow.

Coverage of Shane Van Gisbergen’s first Xfinity Series race will be on Sunday 18 February at 10.30am, live and free from Daytona International Speedway, only on ThreeNow.

Van Gisbergen said: “Awesome to hear the news that NASCAR will be shown on TV in NZ this year! It’ll be a few early Sunday and Monday mornings for the Kiwi fans but hopefully I can do my best to make it worth it.”

This season of the NASCAR Xfinity Series sees the Giltrap-backed Supercars champion driving full-time. van Gisbergen, who finished in second place in the 2023 Supercars Championship, won the inaugural Chicago Street Race in his NASCAR debut in July; becoming the first driver in more than half a century to win a Cup race in their first start. Driving the #97 Chevrolet Camaro with Kaulig Racing, the three-time Supercars champion will also drive in a minimum of seven Cup Series races in 2024.

SVG’s Cup Series starts will come at Circuit of the Americas (25 March), Talladega Superspeedway (22 April and 7 October), Charlotte Motor Speedway (27 May), Chicago Street Race (8 July), Watkins Glen (16 September) and Las Vegas (21 October).

Juliet Peterson, Senior Director Content & BVOD, Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ said: “We know audiences are increasingly keen to watch sport live and free their way, whether they’re on the couch or at the office. Three has been New Zealand’s home of free motorsport for decades, and we are incredibly proud to bring this momentous season of NASCAR to ThreeNow and allow all kiwis the chance to follow Shane van Gisbergen.”

Highlights from both series will also be available each Sunday on CRC Motorsport, commencing on the 11th of February at 4pm on Three and ThreeNow.
