Shane van Gisbergen gearing up for NASCAR double-debut

This weekend, Shane van Gisbergen begins another chapter in his incredible motorsport career, in the red-hot racing cauldron that is NASCAR.
The legendary Daytona International Speedway hosts a double with both the ‘500’ and the opening round of the Xfinity Series. Meanwhile SVG will do his own double-debut, racing in both Xfinity and the lower-level ARCA Menards Series.
It marks the start of a mammoth campaign for the kiwi, who currently has 40 NASCAR starts confirmed, including seven top-level NASCAR Cup races. Ironically, the Xfinity rookie is also a Cup Series race winner following his stunning Chicago victory last year.
Chicago however, was a street race, familiar territory for a Supercars champ; Daytona’s Super Speedway offers a whole new challenge, with the banked an 4km tri-oval rated as the fastest NASCAR venue, with cars nudging 320km/h.
