Porsche plan a trio of powertrains for the Cayenne

Jul 30, 2024

Porsche have revealed their plans for the Cayenne beyond 2030, and it seems like the Stuttgart-based brand is bucking the trend of going fully electric.

That being said, the fourth-generation Cayenne that is currently going through a rigorous testing program will be solely battery powered, but Porsche will continue to offer combustion and hybrid models on the current platform alongside it into the next decade - the current platform having just gone through one of the most extensive product upgrades in Porsche history.

The fourth-generation Cayenne will join the Audi Q6 and Porsche Macan on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), featuring 800-volt architecture.

“The Cayenne has always defined the sports car in its segment. In the middle of the decade, the fourth generation will set standards in the segment as an electric SUV,” says Blume, CEO of Porsche AG.

The new fully electric SUV has finished its digital development and begun the first of millions of testing kilometers at the brand’s development center in Weissach. The testing program will see the camouflaged prototypes travel the world to some of the world’s most extreme and topographical conditions.
