Flying Spur Speed: Bentley's most powerful four-door ever

Sep 11, 2024

Bentley have officially launched the new Flying Spur Speed, their latest luxury tourer to be underpinned by the ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ powertrain.

The updates to the exterior of the Flying Spur Speed have been relatively conservative, with the most significant changes lying under the bonnet.

Gone is the W12, replaced by a plug-in hybrid 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 linked to an electric motor. Total power output is 575kW and a huge 1000Nm of torque, surpassing the W12 by no less than 112kW and 100Nm of torque, and catapulting the luxury saloon to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

Driveability has been significantly improved too, with the electric motors filling torque at lower speeds, ensuring smooth takeoffs and rapid getaways. The 25.9kWh battery also provides up to 75km/h of EV only range.

The handling benchmark for the Flying Spur Speed has been raised, with responsive dual-chamber air suspension, electronically controlled limited-slip diff, and rear wheel steering working together to give the Bentley an agility that belies its size.

The interior has also received tweaks, with new seat designs, connectivity options, and graphics for the digitaldisplays elevating the experience for the driver and passengers.
